Blame It On BovaryThe Movie

Blame It On Bovary begs to be a big-budget Hollywood film with international location shooting in America and Europe and Greece. We have some ideas about who should play the lead roles and want the readers of the book to share their ideas about the best choices for actors in the film. Our favorites for the heroine Sidonie are Anne Hathaway(left) and Keira Knightley(middle) and Jennifer Lawrence (right). What do you think?

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR

When I create a character I begin by listening in on their thoughts. Then I hear them talk to each other. They gesture and I take note. It’s only gradually that I see the color of their hair and eyes, the shape of their faces, the way hair falls across a cheek. It was no different with Sidonie and company. But at one point, just for fun, I wondered what Sidonie would look like on a movie screen, larger than life. And just who might be the actress to bring her to life. I played this game with my editor Jack Galloway. We did not always agree. He preferred an Ann Hathaway Sidonie. I saw Keira Knightley. We’d be tickled to hear how you would cast the characters, so let us know your picks, and we’ll post your thoughts. THANKS!
